Impact is our Wednesday night program that begins in September and runs through April each year.  Each evening begins with a community meal. A good one, too! We have a great team who love cooking! After the meal there is a short time of worship for all ages and then we break off and students go to various classrooms for teaching time. There are also sessions for parents and adults, too. Supper begins at 5:15 pm, classes run from 6-7:15 p.m.

We do have a “Family Room” just off the lobby, that is available for families with babies and infants that is available during worship services. Please note this is not staffed.

Grades 6 thru 12

We love the crazy, quirky, energy and passion of Jr. and Sr. High  Students. Our student ministry will do it’s best to point students toward Christ. We will challenge our students to serve, to love and to learn. Junior and Senior High years can be a challenge but we have caring adults who will model Christ and give great support to each student.

We do a variety activities including service projects, camps, trips, worship and small group learning times.

We meet Wednesday evenings each week, September thru April and we meet often in the summer, too. Summer brings several different outings like kayaking, bonfires, 9 square, hanging out and more!

We care about families and individuals and our HOMEPOINTE Center is designed to help you.  In the HOMEPOINTE Center, you’ll find brochures, books and dvd’s that are designed to help you  with parenting issues, with addiction issues and many other topics. Please feel free to check out this resource.  The HOMEPOINTE Center is located in the lobby where you can also pick up a cup of coffee and sit at one of the tables and chat or read thru material.

Brian Chitwood

Lead Pastor

I’m the Lead Pastor here at Ladysmith and I am loving being a part of this church family. I’m fortunate to be blessed with a great partner in life and in ministry. Barb and I have been married 30 years! Wow! We have two grown sons that are a blessing, too. They both live in Minneapolis.

I love the outdoors and love to fly fish the local rivers and lakes as well as bow hunt in the fall. Other hobbies include woodworking and I am a sport lover, especially March Madness!

Julie Schreiber

Administrative Assistant

Hi, my name is Julie Schreiber and I am the voice you hear if you call the church office. I am married to Howard, who works for our township. Occasionally you might see a grader for a dump truck in the church parking lot. If you do, he has stopped by for a break!

On September 10, 2017 we celebrated, 40 years together! We have three grown daughters, 5 granddaughters, and two grandsons. I have been in ministry work since 1997, serving as the Director of Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center for 10 years and then coming on staff here in March of 2009. My family means everything to me, along with my family of faith here at First Church of Christ.

We are a non-denominational Christian church, affiliated with the Christian Churches / Churches of Christ

Statement of Faith:

Our purpose is to know Christ and to make Him known. (2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Mark 16:15)

Our mission is to fulfill the Great Commission by encouraging and equipping people to pursue intimacy with God, maturity in Christ, and community with neighbors.  (Matthew 28:19-20)

Biblical Authority

The bible is the uniquely inspired and authoritative word of God, and our final authority for theology, faith, and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12)

One God

There is one God, creator of the universe, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1, 14; 2 Corinthians 3:17)

The Father

The Father is supreme Lord over all creation, and is the source of all energy, power, and knowledge. (Matthew 24:36; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, the Son and revealing of the Father, miraculously born from a virgin, fully human and yet fully God. He lived a sinless life, died for the sins of mankind, rose from the dead, and lives today as Head of His church. (Matthew 1:23; Mark 1:1; John 10:30; Romans 5:8; Hebrews 7:24)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in His church.  He indwells and empowers the believer to live a life of redemption. (1 John 4:13; Romans 8:4)

Man was originally created perfect in the image of God, but fell into sin.  God in His grace offers redemption and forgiveness for the sinner by faith in the blood of Christ.  (Acts 13:28; Colossians 1:14)

The Church

The church is the body of Christ in this world, consisting of all who are made new by the Holy Spirit and joined to Christ by faith. (Matthew 16:18; 1 Timothy 3:15)

Jesus is Coming Again

Christ will return to earth one day to complete history and fulfill God’s eternal plan. (Acts 1:11; Revelation 1:7)

Baptism and Communion

We understand that the Bible teaches a believer’s baptism by immersion. The Lord’s Supper was given by Christ as memorial to His sacrifice, and should be celebrated regularly until His return. (Mark 16:16, 1 Corinthians 11:24-25)

These are some of the values that are important to us.

The Greatest Commandments given in Scripture are 1) to love God, and 2) to love our neighbor. We feel that relationships – both with God and with one another – are priority in the life of our church. (Luke 10:27)

Followers of Jesus Christ are to be engaged in a life-long process of being transformed into His image and character, including the development and use of their spiritual gifts. (Romans 8:29; Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-31)

Relevant Ministry

The ministry of the church intentionally seeks to connect with the needs of our church body and of our community in practical and non-judgmental ways. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

Lost People Matter

Those without a personal relationship with Christ are of great concern to God. Therefore we seek to share Christ locally, nationally, and overseas.  (Luke 19:10; Luke 15:3-32)

Servant Leadership

Under the guidance of our elders, deacons, and staff, each person is equipped and empowered to serve in ministry.  (Ephesians 4:11-16)

Our time, abilities, and possessions belong to God, entrusted into our care to leverage for His kingdom’s purposes. (Luke 16:10-12; Matthew 25:14-29)

Excellence in every ministry honors God and inspires people.  (Colossians 3:23)
